چکیده

Abstract This work aimed at treating OMW by developing an environmentally friendly and cost-effective media capable of removing phenolic compounds upon the interaction between magnetic nanoparticles sorbent material such as zeolite. Magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 ) goethite (FeO(OH)) were prepared using microemulsion method dimethylene-1,2-bis (dodecyl dimethyl ammonium bromide) (CTAB) a surfactant. The had properties. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) used for structural morphological characterization. average crystalline sizes magnetite obtained from TEM 7–16 5–14 nm, respectively. nanocomposite with zeolite via coupling natural Jordanian two approaches; mixing coating. adsorption process was analyzed direct photometric after real samples different conditions. In batch experiment, optimum conditions percent to 3%, contact time days, pH 5, room temperature. Results revealed that removal 79% 80% magnetite/zeolite goethite/zeolite, respectively approach, while coating approach magnetite/zeolite, percentage 75%. A significant improvement % 61 93% observed new composite granular activated carbon (GAC) various percentages , FeO(OH)/zeolite) even 3.

Synthesis of Carbon Encapsulated Iron Nanoparticles from Olive Mill Wastewater for Water Remediation

Extended Abstract Nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) particles have demonstrated to effectively remove a wide range of pollutants from water, such as chlorinated compounds, heavy metals and dyes. However, the use of nZVI in environmental remediation is limited do to its lack of stability and easy aggregation [1]. nZVI can also deliver the contaminants that had already been adsorbed in their surf...

Lanthanide sorbent based on magnetite nanoparticles functionalized with organophosphorus extractants

In this work, an adsorbent was prepared based on the attachment of organophosphorus acid extractants, namely, D2EHPA, CYANEX 272, and CYANEX 301, to the surface of superparamagnetic magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles were coated with oleic acid, first by a chemisorption mechanism and later by the respective extractant via physical adsorption. The obtained core-shell ...

Antimicrobial Activity of Olive Mill Waters (Alpechin) and Biotransformed Mill Wastewater Waste- Olive Oil

Olive oil extraction produces a great volume of residue. These olive mill wastes are known as alpechin. This wastewater is a powerful pollutant, resistant to degradation and presents a severe environmental problem related to its high organic content made up largely of simple phenolic compounds, that have been described as being both antimicrobial and phytotoxic. This paper reviews briefly the a...

Olive Mill Wastewater in Turkey and some Solution Alternatives

Olive, as a fruit, cannot be consumed directly due to the oleuropein substance it contains and needs to be processed into either table olives or olive oil through various production systems. Th e process of olive oil extraction results in olive oil as the main product, and two by-products, with olive pomace being one and brown-coloured Olive Mill Wastewater (OMWW) as the other. OMWW has no dire...

Photocatalytic Treatment of Olive Mill Wastewater by Magnetic Core Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles

The photocatalytic degradation of organic compounds of olive mill wastewater (OMWW) was investigated by using core-shell-shell Fe3O4/SiO2/TiO2 nanoparticles as catalyst. The preparation of nanoparticles was performed by coating onto magnetic nanoparticles a SiO2 layer, using Stober method and TiO2 layer, using sol-gel method. The photo catalyst was characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS...
